About our Yoga Training

Welcome to a place of authentic learning where you can explore, learn, transform, and safely gain knowledge, understanding, experience, and confidence in the art, science, practice, and teaching of yoga.

This year, we will be hosting the course live online. Students will be fully supported, as always. Our tutors are experienced in online teaching, and the course will maintain the same high quality.

Drawing on many years of expertise in the field of yoga, we offer authentic teachings that are unique and transform students in their personal journey and academic and professional development.

Our purpose is to serve people with the authentic teachings of yogic wisdom and its foundational principles of yogic philosophy and practices in relation to pregnancy in a way that can be applied in the present time.

The guiding philosophy of our school is Promoting Value Based Teaching.

Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training Programme

This programme offers a unique opportunity to explore the authentic theoretical background and practical applications necessary to safely and appropriately conduct prenatal yoga classes.

Our expertise allows students to learn to teach yoga to pregnant women and learn to offer support through all stages of their pregnancy and birth in a safe environment with skill and confidence.

This programme is suitable for health practitioners, e.g., yoga instructors and therapists, naturopaths, medical herbalists, midwives, osteopaths, physiotherapists, etc., as well as offering a path for those who wish to explore and enhance their own personal practice and delve deeper into the world of yoga.

Course Accreditation

Upon completing the Dr Pooja’s Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training Programme you will receive a certificate of completion.

Your Teachers

The teaching team is made up of highly qualified lead trainers, Dr Pooja and Dr Sridhar Maddela, along with other experts in the fields of CAM therapies and conventional medicine (GP/gynaecology-obstetrics), ayurveda, and nutrition.

Course Outline

The following subjects will be covered:

  • General background on the foundations and principles of yoga
  • Traditional Yoga philosophy
  • Anatomy & Physiology: understanding changes throughout pregnancy
  • Applied Anatomy & Physiology/yoga Therapy: Psycho-Physiological changes to expectant mothers. Understanding complications and contraindications during pregnancy.
  • Birth: stages of labour; supporting a woman in natural/active birth; understanding intervention
  • Techniques, training and practices through all three trimesters: asana, pranayama, yoga nidra, meditation, visualisations, and partner yoga exercises for prenatal sessions
  • Safety guidelines for prenatal sessions
  • Teaching methodology: designing and teaching lessons for each trimester
  • Eastern approach (ancient traditions such as Ayurveda and Yoga) for pregnancy
  • Case studies discussed: Yoga and Ayurvedic Nutritional Approaches during pregnancy

This course is grounded on a balanced platform of practical and theory. You begin each day with a practical ‘prenatal’ yoga class with a lead trainer, allowing you to really feel and experience what the postures and practices would feel like for a pregnant woman. This is followed by a combination of more practical as well as theoretical sessions. There will also be time for practice teaching and integration of the vast amounts of knowledge you’ll be learning.

FAQ

  1. I am not a yoga teacher; can I still do the course?

Yes, you are welcome to do this programme, even if you’re not currently a trained yoga teacher, however, we require that you have six months of prior personal yoga practice.

The course is also very suitable for health practitioners as mentioned above.

  1. How do I go about becoming a Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher (RPYT) with the Yoga Alliance?

If you are now a registered yoga alliance teacher (minimum 200 hour), then completion of our 85-hour prenatal yoga training programme enables you to simply apply for registration as a specialized RPYT. Please note applicants must submit 30 teaching hours in prenatal yoga, which is performed after completing a programme with a RPYS (Registered Prenatal Yoga School).

If you are not currently a registered Yoga Alliance teacher, you can still do the 200 hour training at any stage after this course. Upon completion of both courses, you may then register as a RPYT.

What our graduates are saying ~

…My two passions are art and yoga. I have studied for many years, gaining recognized qualifications, building on my artistic ability. Therefore, I feel I am in a position to fairly state, that the teachings of yoga that are passed on by both Dr Pooja Maddela and Dr Sridhar Maddela, are at an exceptional level. Their expertise and knowledge are passed on with enthusiasm and passion, which enabled the content of this programme to be easily comprehended. They both teach with precision, and are articulate, relaying information with clarity. As a qualified Yoga Instructor this Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training programme has expanded my knowledge to another degree, allowing me to safely guide and instruct with confidence.
Many thanks, Carol Baker

Mother and Baby

Mother and Baby

Hello Pooja, I wanted to let you know that our baby boy arrived right on his due date on the dot of midnight. It was a very quick delivery and an unplanned home birth in my bath at home as I didn’t have time to go to Birthcare. I had my first contraction an hour and 10 minutes before he was born and our midwife only just made it to me for the delivery. Your mantra to breathe-breathe-breathe was a great help as I was unprepared for the speed and intensity (my previous children were 22 hours labour and then 5 hours so I was expecting a bit fast but not THAT fast).

A new addition to the family :)

A new addition to the family 🙂

He is well, and weighed just over 4kgs so is a big baby! We haven’t chosen a name for him yet and are enjoying settling in together.

Thank you for all the wonderful yoga classes over the last two terms. All my best wishes to you and to the rest of the class. – Ilana

Hi Pooja, our beautiful baby girl was born this morning at 4.43 am. The birth was beautiful and all very natural, I was able to stay calm by making lots of low ‘aaaas’ and ‘uuuus’ and the long exhalations really paid off! I let my body lead the

pushing and simply exhaled – that part only took around 25 mins and no tears. I feel so proud and so happy with this new stage for my family. Thank you so much for your guidance and wisdom xx
